The Akal Academy Baru Sahib an excellent school in District Sirmaur in Himachal is an endeavor in which modem scientific education is combined with Spiritual education (Braham Vidya) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj. This education leads to the development of capabilities of various technical professions such as engineering medicine science and humanities etc. besides infusing in the student a Universal Spiritual Brotherhood.
The idea was conceived by Sant Attar Singh Ji of Mustuana. Sant Teja Singh Ji laid the foundation stone of The Guru Nanak Spiritual University at Baru Sahib in 1956 as Akal Academy.
Baru Sahib is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Himalayas approximately 100. Miles north-cast of Paonta Sahib near Rajgarh in Himachal Pardash.
The Akal Academy is a residential English medium (10+2) Co-Educational School. Admission is open to all irrespective of caste creed and is by merit. The Academy has students from all over India and from many foreign countries like U.S.A. U.K and Canada. Run by Kalgidhar Trust under the able guidance of Baba Iqbal Singh Join a non-profit basis the source of funds are the donations. The cost of education in this school is almost half as compared to similar high quality residential private schools.
The Academy admits students who do not have any financial resources. Most of these students are orphans who have nobody to take care of them except Waheguru. The educational of these orphans is totally funded by special donations from individuals.
The aims and objectives of The Akal Academy are:
a) To train students enabling them to adjust in this fast changing world.
b) To create among students a strong sense of duty and discipline so that they can be useful members of society.
c) To explore the innate creative ability of the students to channel them towards fruitful goals through various activities and work experience
d) To develop strong character with particular emphasis on moral and spiritual education
