NEW DELHI: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said the death of Congress-I leader Rajiv Gandhi would “certainly affect” Indo-Pak relations.

Sharif who arrived here to attend the funeral of Rajiv Gandhi said that he was for a “dialogue” with the Indian government on “all outstanding issues” between the two countries.

Sharif who is leading a 19 member high power Pakistani delegation said he would be discussing Indo-Pak relations with the Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar Friday evening as the two countries could not afford the “growing tension” in their relations.

He denied that militants were being trained on the Pakistani soil saying it was a “misconception”.

He described Rajiv Gandhi as a “well respected Indian leader” and that he had personally met him when he had accompanied former Pakistan president Zia Ul Haq to India in 1984.
