KATHMANDU: Girija Prasad Koirala will be the new prime minister of Nepal following his election as leader of Nepali congress which won a majority in the parliamentary elections last week. With Koirala’s election the stage is now set for the installation of a single-party ministry in the Himalayan kingdom next week. Koirala the general secretary of the party was unanimously elected its leader in the House of Representatives by a voice vote.
The president of the party Dr.Krishna Prasad Bhattarai presided over the meeting of the parliamentary party at his official baluwater residence here
The Napali Congress won a majority of 110 seats in the 205member house in the first multi-party elections in the country in 32 years held on May 12.
