NEW DELHI: The growth of national income during 198990 the terminal year of the seventh five year plan fell sharply to 5.2% as against the 11.2% rise recorded in the previous financial year. According to the quick estimates of central statistical organisation (CSO) of national income and related aggregates for 198990 The national income (net national product at factor cost) for the fiscal year stood at Rs.174798 crore (1.7 billion) as against Rs 166200 crores (1.6 billion) in 1988-89.

However the average annual growth of the economy as measured by the gross domestic product for the seventh five year plan (198590) as a whole works out to 5.6% against the target of five per cent.

GDP at factor cost at constant (198081) prices in 198990 is estimated at Rs 197419 crore (1.9 billion) as against Rs 187725 crore (1.8 billion) in 198889 registering a growth of 5.2% during the year as against the record growth of 10.4% in the previous year.
