NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar on Jan 19th assured the nation that it had enough foodgrain stocks and warned profiteers hoarders and smugglers that the government would come heavily on them if they tried to make easy money exploiting the Gulf War.
In a broadcast to the nation on the gulf situation the prime minister said he saw no reason for rise in the prices and assured the people that all their basic needs would be met without any obstruction. If any problem is there the government has got the capacity and the necessary reserves to meet the situation he said.
Chandra Shekhar regretted that peace efforts by India and other countries failed to avert a war in the gulf. He said the war must not be allowed to escalate.
