LUCKNOW: Six persons was killed and six injured in two clashes at Rampur and Agra cities of the Uttar Pradesh since Jan 9 an official spokesman said here Thursday.

Six persons were killed and three injured in a clash between two groups of persons in the Rampur town market on Wednesday evening the spokesman said.

The clash began when some persons attacked a betel shop owner following an altercation and injured him seriously. Some friends of the batelshop owner gathered at the scene and clashed with the miscreants. Two seriously injured persons were sent to New Delhi for treatment he said.

The spokesman said three persons were injured in the other group clash in the Tajunj locality of Agra city Thursday morning.

He said the trouble started in the locality when some miscreants threw stones and attempted to set on fire the house belonging to a member of a different community

However police reached the scene on time and brought the situation under control. Fifty four persons had been arrested in this connection the spokesman said
