GURU GOBIND SINGH NAGAR (PATNA): The vertical Split in the Bihar unit of the BJP was formalized here Jan 6 with the breakaway group floating a new party named Sampuran Kranti Dal thus climaxing the year-long dissidence in the party:

The new party would be nationalist casteless and secular in character according to a leader of the party Mr Inder Singh Namdharis.

However as Mr Namdharis announced the name of the candidate at the end of a day-Jong convention disorderly scenes broke out at the venue of the convention with a section of the delegates making vociferous demand that the name should be BJP Deen Dayal.

Keeping in view the sentiments of the delegates the new working president of the party Mr Samaresh Singh (MLA) said that the name was only a provisional one.

Mr Namdhari also announced that Mr Gyaneshwar Yadav would be the president of the party’s Parliamentary Board.

Earlier speakers at the convention came down heavily on the BJP leadership accusing the leaders of adopting a dictatorial attitude in the functioning of the party in the state.
