CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Congress Committee (I) has demanded that the post of chief commissioner in Chandigarh should be revived immediately.

The Congress (I) has raised this demand in a letter to the Congress (I) president Mr Rajiv Gandhi.

The letter says that the Governor of Punjab who is also the administrator of the union territory finds no time for the city as he is totally engrossed in attending to the problems of strive torn Punjab. The advisor has no powers and the sufferers in such a situation are the people of the city.

They have also demanded that Chandigarh should remain as the union territory.
