CHANDIGARH: Punjab news Director General of Police, DS. Manga, said that though the present strength of the police was sufficient in Punjab more men were proposed to be recruited and trained to cope ‘with the situation. In addition, he said, more companies of the paramilitary forces were being asked for from the Center.
‘Addressing his first Press conference at Amritsar, Mangat said that 45 police stations of Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts had been identified where the station was “extremely delicate”. He said new police stations were being created and his police deployment in Punjab’s three major towns Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana was being reorganized
Mangat claimed that no fake ‘encounter had taken place after he took over as Director General and said that any such complaint would be investigated, if received
Mangat appealed to the public and the Press to cooperate with the police to restore order in the State.
