BOMBAY: Indian defense minister Shared Pawar warned neighboring countries that they would face dire consequences if they meddled with India’s affairs.
Pawar said “India is not a war monger but if will not tolerate any menacing act and will retaliate in befitting manner”.
He said the morale of the army personnel on the border and in remove areas along the border was high.
Pawar was replying w a felicitation here organized by united workers’ force, which is affiliated to the Congress.
Pawar, al the same time, ex- pressed happiness at the under- standing between premier P V Narasimha Rao and Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Harare.
He said India was facing many problems internally and externally from militants, particularly the ULFA in Assam and the Khalistan movement in Punjab.
Dwelling on what he claimed to be infiltrations from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir, he said many infiltrators were Pakistan: solders in plain clothes. He said Mujahedeen’s and Afghans had also infiltrated to create disturbances.
