The Royal Canadian Legion Dominion Command has recommended amendments to the bylaws of Legion Branches to accommodate religious headgear for Sikhs and Jews. Though this policy will require approval at the next Legion Convention in May, consistent efforts expected to impress upon all Legion branches to voluntarily implement changes their bylaws to ensure that members of other religious faiths receive the equal treatment as their fellow veterans.
The WSO Canada offered assistance to the Legion to increase. Awareness and ease tensions through information dissemination and communications, we are once again committing our resources to assist the Legionnaires in understanding the significance of the Sikh turban as a religious requirement. WSOrepresentatives have offered to conduct workshops and seminars for the Legion branches, to achieve a harmonious relationship and increase awareness of the Sikh Religion.
