NEW DELHE : The Romanian authorities have asked Pakistan 10 exert pressure on militant outfits in Punjab for the safe release of their kidnapped charge D Affaires, Radu, official sources said Saturday, PTI reports.
These militant groups allegedly had “close links” with an intelligence organization according to the sources.
Some people who were arrested from the disturbed areas of Jammu and Kashmir had disclosed during their interrogation that they had instructions to step up kidnappings and attack “soft targets”, In India, the sources said.
In the past too, Pakistani help was believed to have been sought to seek their release of the kidnapped daughter of Prof Saifuddin Soz, who was abducted by Kashmiri militants.
The sources said the special task force, set up in the cabinet secretariat to monitor the probe into the kidnapping of the Romanian diplomat, was working on “some leads” to identify which of the four Punjab militant outfits was actually responsible for the abduction.
Earlier the “Khalistan Commando Force” and three other groups had claimed responsibility for Radu’s kidnapping.
