We understand that you wish to address our Sangat (Congregation) during our regular Sunday morning prayers. Quite a number of our citizens have voiced concerns as listed below and we think that this will be a good opportunity for you to offer your comments. 1. People going back home for extended period of time usually require special permission from the Canadian Government. Permission is usually granted for up to one year. We would like to see that extended for up to two years. This may save money for the Canadian Govt. 2. Sponsorship fee will be raised to $1500 per person. We feel that this will cause hardship and feel that the sole purpose of the change is to discourage sponsorship. 3. Canadian Goyt. Requires Bank financial statements of the sponsors showing large deposits in saving accounts. The reality is that people tend to lower their debts (mortgages etc.) rather than build large saving accounts, we feel that proof of steady employment and assets should be sufficient to show that we are financially secure. Again we feel that the purpose of this requirement is to discourage sponsorship.
