CHANDIGARH: The Peoples Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has indicted the Bathinda police for torturing two daily wagers, Ram Singh and Jagiit Singh, at the Vardhman post in Bathinda district. According to a press release of the Bathinda chapter of the PUCL, the third degree torture followed a family dispute between Jarnail Singh and his wife Paramjit Kaur.
The three member team of the PUCL comprising Ved Parkash Gupta, Vineeta Gupta and Sukhjit Singh in its report has held Inspector Sangram Singh responsible for the plight of the laborers. Their photographs reveal that they were beaten with leather belts leading to peeling off the skin of their hips.
