NEW DELHI (PTI): India and Pakistan have agreed to cooperate in combating the ever-increasing trafficking in drugs and smuggling across the border.
Other steps agreed at the fifth meeting of the India Pakistan committee on the subject includes setting up of data banks on drug trafficking in both the counties to adopt appropriate modes of supplying information during interrogation by law enforcement officers of cither country to whom the arrested person belong.
The delegates decided to help each other in identifying drug traffic routes, groups and vulnerable points of drug smuggling across the IndoPak border and work out details of regular field level exchange on drug trafficking by land, sea and air.
On being told about India’s grave concern over the growing influx of drugs and arms from Pakistan and the organized Nexus between drugs and arms traffickers, the Pakistani side wanted to know if definite evidence of the Nexus existed. When few cases were cited, the Pakistan delegation stated that the matter could be taken up in another forum.
