Dear Editor,
This is in reference to Ramanjit’s letter in WSN dated 9/3/93 suggesting Sikh scholars, SGPC, and other Sikh organizations have criticized DrPashaura Singh’s thesis on an emotional basis and supported Dr.Sahib’s scholarship without any academic evidence.
It has been proved beyond doubt that MS#1245 is not an early draft. As it has no authenticity. It suddenly appeared on the shelf of an antique dealer in 1987 when Dr.Sahib started his research. Dr.Balwant Singh (GNDU) has clearly established that it is a part of Minas Literature produced in the late 17th century.
Who wrote the ghost article under the name of Dr.Lohlin in the Sikh Courier (1987), Sikh Review (1990) when he was invalid or dead respectively? The above two unacademic presentations suggest conspiracy without any doubt.
Basing his research on the wrong physical evidence, Dr.Sahib came to wrong conclusions which suggest Guru Arjan made misrepresentations and theological changes in the Bani of Guru Nanak and challenged the revelatory nature of Sikh faith; hence blasphemous.
Nobody ever challenged either his decent and hardworking habit or his family as a Sikh model family, but question has been raised about what he has written in black and white, We who have grown in the west have watched McLeod, Oberoi, and now Dr.Sahib make a mockery of the great treasures left to us by the Gurus. We will chart Guru’s course without such unethical academicians. Jaswinder Kaur, M.A. Lakewood, CA.
