AMRITSAR: On Aug.25, police shot down Ajmer Singh an employee of the SGPC. He was lifted up from the Golden Temple complex while he was returning to his house after finishing duty on Aug.24. The Ajmer Singh has been accused by the police of being a leader of the KCF (Commando Force Panjwar). He was working as an inspector in SGPC for the past many years.
This is another case of police excess which has become routine in Punjab. No one can raise a word against the highhandedness of the police who have let loose a reign of terror in Punjab and anybody can be dubbed a terrorist and killed with impunity. The police reports Ajmer Singh as a “think tank of the KCF (Panjwar) and a close confidant of late general Lakh Singh, the founder of KCF.
The Amritsar police district SSP, Dhillon said that Ajmer Singh was “brain” behind almost all actions of the outfit in the city in the past eight years.
The SGPC meanwhile in a press release alleged that Ajmer Singh was “lifted” by the police from outside the Golden Temple complex while he was returning to his house after his duty hours.
The police, however, denied it and said that although he was on the SGPC staff he had never at tended the office but was drawing pay regularly.
