CHANDIGARH: Indian intelligence agencies believe that senior Sikh militant leaders are now in Thailand and not in Pakistan. They point out that Baba Wassan Singh Zafarwal, Babbar Khalsa International chief Bhai Wadhawa Singh and Sikh student leader Bhai Daljit Singh Khalsa are all in Bangkok. The intelligence information may be based on the interrogation of Bhai Balwinder Singh and Bhai Harjit Singh who were brought to Punjab from Thailand by a team of the Indian police. Bhai Balwinder Singh had his leg broken either due to police torture or, as the police claims, while trying to ¢scape at Bangkok. He is now under treatment at a Patiala hospital, according to reports, The Indian intelligence thinks that most of the Sikh militant leaders had left Pakistan because that country no longer gives them shelter. However, India’s critical propaganda line is that Pakistanis giving Sikhs all help to create conditions of destabilization. There is no confirmation of the Indian claims about the whereabouts of the Sikh leaders from independent sources.
