The need of the hour is to address our community’s problems at a professional Level and try to find solutions through social institutions other than Gurdwaras. Other communities have established institutions which are uniquely Suited to their needs, e.g, the Japanese and the Vietnamese, Some Muslims and Jewish organizations have excellent programs to help their members. We need to study the program of other communities, and suggest ways and means to adopt those services suited to the needs of our community members. Sikh philosophy and the Sikh principles of “Naam Japo, Kirt Kano, Wand Chhako” are the touchstones to test the worth and validity of any such programs and there is none better to do so than z true Sikh of Guru Nanak. I say this in all humility. But to be a Sikh is a real challenge.
