Aug.16: Seven Sikhs from Fairfax, Virginia were arrested by county police for the part in the Gurdwara dispute in April, this year. The arrests by the police have been condemned by the group opposing the current governing body of the Gurdwara.

Mr Amrit Singh Sethi, the leader of the group, has condemned the arrests as ‘unfair.’ He also criticized the police investigation of the dispute as ‘one-sided’. He claimed that there were two mobs on the day that the clash took place in April in which nine devotees at the congregation had been hospitalized with broken ribs and other injuries, during the evening Prayers. Some witnesses reported that members of the Gurdwara board had been dragged outside the Gurdwara and beaten up.

Premier Singh chairman of the foundation board welcomed the arrests and told the press that “as Sikh Americans we respect the laws and the justice system of our land, the United States of America.” The arrested men are, Lakhwinder Singh Virk, Balwinder Singh Sahi, Baldev Singh Sohi, Narinder Singh, Kashmir Singh Dhaliwal and Sukhwinder Singh.
