NEW DELHI (PTI): Sixty seven persons were killed in Kashmir in various incidents of violence in the last two days of July. Security forces claimed to have killed a “chief commander” of a pro-Pakistan militant outfit in Kashmir valley. Six persons were. killed and 13 others were injured in militancy related violence, Sajad Ahmad Miralias “Saleem,” chief commander of the “Tehreek Ul Mujahideen” outfit was killed in an encounter at Shaheedgunj locality in Srinagar on July 30, police sources said.

Militants abducted a producer of Doordarshan Kendra, hijacker four buses and torched a vital communication link in the valley during the period, Two Pakistan trained militants and two members ofa family were among 10 people killed and 18 persons, some of them militants, were nabbed while searchers in the border belt in Kupwara yielded some more arms and ammunition in Kashmir valley overnight Friday. Sixteen people including three militants, on¢ of them a self-styled are a commander of a banned militant outfit were killed and 12 militants fell in the dragnet of the security forces in Kashmir valley since Saturday.
