OTTAWA: The construction of the final phase (Langar Hall and Kitchen) of Gurdwara Sahib started with the sounds of “Bole So Nihal Sat Siri Akal.” The Sikh Sangat from Toronto and Montreal who came to participate in the annual games, also took part in the ceremonies.

After the Akhand Path Bhog in the morning the Panj Piaraas dressed in colorful robes, with swords in their hands started the foundation digging ceremony while the Sangat sang the Shabad of Gurbani.

Bhai Bishan Singh and Jatha from Patna Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan, The whole program was broadcast live on the radio by Sardar Sukhminder Singh Hansra, the producer of Ankheela Punjab and Gagan Damama Vajeo radio programs in Toronto. Among the people who spoke at this occasion were, Manjit S. Sandhu, President of Ouawa Sikh Society, Japinder Singh, Ajit Singh Sahota, Dr.Surat S .Bauh, Dr .Inderjit S. Sambi, Dr.Puran S.Kasbia, Kamail Singh Gill, Jhalman S.Sidhu, all from Ottawa and Amarjit Singh from Toronto, All the speakers offered special thanks to the Sikhs of Toronto and its surrounding areas for donating more than $60,000 for the Gurdwara Sahib building in Ottawa. This building is being completed on a4 1/2 acre wooded area situated on Gurdwara road. In their comments the speakers thanked those who shared their earnings for the Sikh cause, thinking this as their duty. Also special thanks were given to those who neither had jobs nor enough money in this recession, but still shared in this Sewa. This speaks up for the dedication of the Khalsa. They were reminded that the Khalsa Nation is passing through one of the most difficult times of their History. Thousands of Sikhs have already laid down their lives to free the Sikh nation from the dirty clutches of the Hindus and their tyrant governments.

“We must fulfill our duty toward our Sikh nation by contributing generously in every possible manner. We must boost our Shaheedi Funds for urgent help.” ‘This was the appeal from the World Sikh Organization and all Panthak organizations.
