AMRITSAR: Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda’s mother, Bibi Gurnam Kaur, has expressed a sense of relief and satisfaction at her son’s determination to sacrifice his life for the Sikh nation.

In an interview at Bhai Jinda’s village Gandhi in this district, Mata Gurnam Kaur said the family had received telephone call from Poona from Harjinder Singh asking his parents not to file any mercy petition to the Indian government,

Mata Gurnam Kaur said that their family had been the target of police repression all these years, But the Sikh masses had started visiting the family in the wake of the Supreme Court’s confirmation of the death penalty on Bhai Harjinder Singh and Bhai Sukhdev Singh.

Both Harjinder Singh and Sukhdev Singh are now lodged in Poona jail. They were convicted by a designated court about two years ago for killing General A.S. Vaidya, former chief of Indian army staff, for his role in operation Blue Star. They had refused to file an appeal to the Maharashtra high court or to the Supreme Court against their conviction. Nevertheless, the Maharashtra government on its own made an application first to the high court and then to the Supreme court seeking review of the conviction, Later the two Sikh heroes wrote to the Indian President a letter spelling out the cause of Khalistan to which, they said, they had been committed to after the manner in which the Indian state had ransacked the Harminder Saheb and other gurdwaras.

Mata Gumam Kaur said she felt proud of her son’s sense of commitment to the Sikh nation, Harjinder had “saved my honor as well as my family’s honor” by doing what he had done,” His life has been of some use to the Sikh nation, that gives me immense happiness. What else can make me happier?”

Meanwhile, militants are watching with interest the activities of the six Akali organizations on the question of Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Bhai Harjinder Singh, They do not appear to relish the appointment of advocates panels by the A.I.S.S.F, (Manjit) to fight the Sikh heroes case they are op posed to making any appeals to the Indian government for mercy. but Akalis are making it a an rallying point to emerged as a relevant political factor after lying low for more than two months Bhai Harjinder a Singh village to announces the appointed of a committee to defend the two Sikh leaders who are not interested in any such defence.
