NEW DELHI(PTI): Harshad Mehta, the prime accused in the multicore security scam, July 1 said that he, his family members and friends were under “surveillance” by the investigating agencies with a view to isolate them.
In an interview to PTI shortly before his departure for Bombay after deposing before the joint parliamentary committee for the second time, the broker said that they were not only being shad owed but their telephones were also being tapped.;
“We are under shadow. All telephones are being tapped and our relatives and friends are living in fear, The idea seems to isolate us,” he said.
Answering a volley of questions on the charge of Rs 10 million payoff to the prime minister, the broker said “I have all sorts of confirmatory evidence to prove my charge.”
Asked why he failed to provide evidences before the JPC meeting June30 to prove his charge against ‘the prime minister, Mehta said “if ‘whatever documents and tape recorded messages produced before JPC are considered had equate, what else I: can say.”
“My intention was not to malign the prime minister but the insistence by various agencies about the withdrawals forced me to tell the: truth,” he said.
The stock broker claimed that the “massive cover up operation by government such as tampering of visitors register and records will prove more shocking for the au theoretic.”
Mehta refuted the Congress (I) charge that he was backed by the BJP in levelling charges against the prime minister. “I do not have any political ambition,” he said.
He said initially charges were levelled against him that he had links with Arjun Singhand Sharad Pawar. Later it was turned towards BJP by Congress (I) “ to save the prime minister.”
Reiterating his conversation with Sunil Mittal, son of late Satpal Mittal, the stock broker said Sunil did not deny the conversation but only said that portions were erased or fabricated.
