The following are major considerations for formulation of policy for the future, by the United Nations, Governments, Leaders and Peoples of the world:
The discovery of nuclear energy and the existence of 50,000 nuclear bombs have raised the possibility of destroying or doing irreparable damage to all life.
The space age and satellites have made the concept of inviolability of national boundaries irrelevant. The revolution in communications has converted the peoples of planet Earth into one global community.
Protection of the environment can only be considered on a global basis. Economies of all countries of the world are interdependent The existence of about 180 sovereign, independent countries with as many armies costing hundreds of billions of dollars is irrational and wasteful.
Freedom and Prosperity are indivisible. Loss of this anywhere affects all everywhere. Large and permanent differences in wealth between nations and individuals are a source of conflict, Peaceful ways must be found to reduce such differences.
The concept of national sovereignty is out-of-state. A World Govt. with maximum autonomy at all levels is needed. As a first step, the United Nations should be given the role of maintaining international law and order, by military forces contributed by most of the countries of the world under United Nations command. World population must be controlled. There is truth in the statement that Mother Earth has cancer and that cancer is Man. ‘The resources of our planet are limited; population, standard of living and resources have to be in balance, The concepts of unceasing growth in production and standards of living are wrong and untenable. Beyond a certain level of material wealth, peace is to be found only in intellectual and spiritual growth,
There is not, nor can there be, a contradiction between science and religion. Science is based on reason, religion on faith. Both are incomplete and imperfect searches for Truth; they are complementary to each other.
God is Truth and Truth is God, Who shows Himself in the infinite universe. The search for the infinite domains of God and Truth through science and religion can never be complete.
Every person perceives God in his own unique way, scientific or religious. Such differences in perception must be resolved through reason and discussion, in a nonviolent and peaceful manner.
War and Violence in today’s world are out-of-date and can lead to destruction of the human race. The only alternative is peace and cooperation on the basis of a world government with maximum freedom and autonomy to the component parts.
Man is reasoning but not a reasonable animal; he is governed by self-interest, passion and vanity. He learns slowly mainly through pain and suffering, after shedding rivers of blood. The question is whether it is possible to accelerate this learning process by peaceful means through increasing his consciousness of the potential dangers of his nature,
In spite of the historical evidence of the folly and selfishness of the human race shown by wars in all recorded history, man is also capable of love, sacrifice, intelligence, will and unimaginable creative thinking. Can we make a quantum jump in our spiritual Stature, and take the future in our own hands? We must make a leap of faith and believe that we will do so, What must we all do individually to make this happened The goals stated above cannot be achieved in their entirety. We can only hope for progress; perhaps, within the next 20 to 30 years, tangible progress can be made,
An organization with the possible name of World International Congress should be formed with branches in as many countries as possible; time seems to be ripe for such an organization.
