BANGLORE (PTI): The long standing dispute between the two South Indian States, Tamil Nadu and Kamataka, over sharing of Cauvery waters appears to be taking a turn for the worse with Congress-I member of parliament from Karnataka and Cauvery coordination committee president G Made Gowda threatening to resign his Lok sabha membership unless the ‘injustice to Karnataka is undone by July20’.
According to Prof M D Nanjunda swamy, president Karnataka rajya ryota sangha, Gowda had already handed over his resignation letter, in the prescribed format and in accordance with mules, to the ryota sangha.
He alleged that though Bangarappa was claiming that Kamataka had not released any water to Tamil Nadu, water was being released to that state every day,
Meanwhile, over 100 opposition Janata Dal BJP, SJP and Kannada Chaluvali members and party leaders were arrested here when they attempted to stage a demonstration in front of the residence of Karnataka chief minister Bangarappa to press for a boycott of the Cauvery tribunal, which was set up by federal government to amicably solve the riparian dispute.
Police said the Processionists, led by opposition leader in the assembly B Chandre Gowda(JD), state BJP president, BS Yediyurappa, SJP floor leader, C Byre Gowda and Kannada Chaluvali leader, Vatal Nagaraj, were taken into custody when they were proceeding towards the chief minister’s residence,
