NEW DELHI (PTI) The retiring Pakistan high commissioner Abdul Sattar regretted that India and Pakistan continued to be distant neighbor’s inspite of efforts from both sides to improve bilateral relations.
Speaking at a function here Abdul Sattar conceded there still existed a gulf between the two countries on several contentious issues.
He said it was incumbent upon the leaders of the two countries to find ways to solve the longstanding issues and promote ties in an atmosphere of mutual trust, goodwill and cooperation.
Describing his stay in the Indian capital as a memorable part of his life Abdul Sattar praised the kind, courteous and generous treatment extended to him in India,
The function was organized by the voice of millions and the non-aligned congress of youth to bid Sattar farewell on completion of his second stint as Pakistan high commissioner in India.
