Sikhs all over the world plan to draw the attention of the world to the oppression of Sikhs in India and remind the world community of the genocide of Sikhs by the Indian govt. It was in this week, June 1984, when the Indian Army destroyed the Akal Takhat and killed thousands of Sikh pilgrims on Guru Arjun Dev Jee’s Martyrdom day. Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who had emerged as the unchallenged leader of the Sikh masses was killed along with Bhai Amrik Sing and Gen Shabeg Singh and a reign of terror was instituted in Punjab under special laws inacted by the Indian govt.

On June 3, protest marches will be organized at United Nations in New York, Indian Counsel in San Francisco, Federal Building in Seattle and Indian Consultants at Chicago.

On June 5, protestors plan to march to the Indian Embassy in Washington and the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa. At Houston, Detroit and Dallas Sikh delegations intend to hand over declarations and memorandums to city authorities for forwarding to the UN, Secretary General.
