Bachittar Natak a wonderful drama is the autobiography of Siri Guru Gobind Singh which was compiled by him in Prakrit which constitutes Sanskrit and was divided into 14 ‘Cantos.’ The Spiritual Pontiff of the Sikh hierarchy primarily invoked divine assistance for the compilation of this sacred scripture. The opening verse is in the form of a rhyming couplet, heralding the commencement of this unique “Sanctuary of Marvels’ in the versified form; the Great Guru manifestly lauds, and bows his head in reverence to the multifarious, qualitative utilities of the sword [Kirpan].
This is the only Autobiography of its kind that tells us not only the events of present life, but also, of the previous life, It gives a graphic account of Guru’s personal reminiscence of eventful past life; His deep meditation in seclusion; His spiritual discourse in direct communion with the Almighty; The sole object of Guru’s incarnation or rebirth or his visible embodiment in the terrestrial orbit; The ecclesiastical link right from Sat Guru Nanak Dev [the Founder of Sikhism] to the 9th Guru Teg Bahadur; The ‘historic’ background of Bedi and Sodhi Dynasties; The Vandalism, and the naked iconoclastic repression perpetrated by Aurangzeb on Hindus; The Woeful Tales and harrowing accounts narrated in the Historic Durbar of Guru Teg Bahadur, ‘Hind De Chader’ against Muslim oppression and tyrannical attitude towards the Kashmiri Pandits; Guru Teg Bahadur’s intercession and vehement protests at the Royal Durbar at Delhi, culminating in the Martyrdom of the Great Guru; Guru Gobind Singh’s relentless wars against! Mughal imperialism; The Memoirs of Guru’s successful campaign against Mughal forces; The traitorous demeanor displayed by the renegade Sikhs and their ultimate doom; The betrayal and treachery of the refractory hill chieftains in league with Muslim invaders; And the extraordinary significance attached to in the matter of compilation of this rare Religious-cum Political Literature.
