JALANDHAR: Yash, a member of the Indian Parliament, is dead of a heart attack; He was born at Jalalpur Jawan in Pakistan. He matriculated from D.A.V, school, Lahore. Yash joined the Indian independence movement immediately after his schooling. He served several jail terms. He became editor of Milap, a family newspaper, after the death of his father. Yash was an Arya Samajist and Congressman, He held his political views Strongly, He was respected as a Hindu leader of Punjab. Yash was a Strong opponent of the formation of a Punjabi speaking state and thus distanced himself from the Sikh mainstream He was a good orator. Influenced by his oratory with strong Hindu roots the late Indra Gdndhi had sent to campaign for Congress (I) in the Jammu region when election to Kashmir assembly were held in 1983. He succeeded in mobilizing Hindu of Jammu in favor of Congress (I). In short Yash was a pillar of Hindu fundamentalism in north India. He is survived by a son and three daughters. All four children were away when his end came.
