MODESTO, CA: The Lt Governor Leo McCarthy declared! here that he’ll concentrate on the economic issues, when elected 10 the Senate, McCarthy was speaking At a reception held in his honor organized by Sikhs of central California, He told his audience that after the cold war which had become part of the past history with fall of Soviet Union, the ‘economic progress of America has become a main agenda. He said that more concentration is requited to be made for uplifting the common man in America. Responding to the comments by fan other speaker about human rights violations in the Punjab against Sikhs by the Indian Government forces, he declared that he’ll do his utmost to put an end. ‘Such like violations in any part of the world when elected to the Senate; He called upon his audience to help him in getting elected to the Senate of United States. It is worthy to mention that Lt. Governor is seeking democratic nomination for the seat vacated by the present encombat Alan Cranston.
The function which was sponsored by Sikhs of Modesto and adjoining areas and was organized by Amarjit (Sam) Samra Sawant (Saqi) Sanghera and Narinder S.Mann Rony Samra who is twelve surprised the audience by ‘welcoming the guest of honor. Darshan Singh, chairman of parking authorities of S.P. introduced the chief guest H.S. Bhullar ‘acted as master of ceremonies.
Later the guests were served with dinner. The organizers presented Leo collection of $10,000.00 as donation to his campaign for the Senate seat. Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of organizers in ‘arranging function.
