CHICAGO: The ninth annual Asian coalition of Chicago dinner banquet was held on ‘At Chicago Marriot with the Sikh American Community, very much in lime light.
This is one single largest event of approximately 260,000 Asian ‘Americans in Chicago area.
The Pakistani’ American community was the host this year. Over 1,000 V.I.P. guests including senators and the mayors attended the function, Sikh American ‘community of Chicago participated in a big way with an impressive attendance of over 100, paying $40 a piece. Mayor of Palatine, IL and a congressional ‘candidate were special guests of the Sikhs.
An international dress show was ‘part of the cultural program where S. Jasdeep Singh Chawla and Priya deep Kaur Chawla modeled as a Sikh couple in their wedding dress, with Sardar Chawla holding a “Siri Sahib.” In the Asian folk dances “Bhangra Dance” group directed by S. Rajinder bir Singh Mago was the highlight of the evening.
Mohinder jit Singh Saini, the social secretary of Sikh religious society of Chicago won a prestigious award from the Asian ‘American coalition for his excellence in community services.
Irene Cualoping, a Chinese ‘American and executive director of the minority and female bus ness enterprise was honored with the Pan Asian award for her contributions to the Asian American coalition causes.
