CHANDIGARH: Doordarshan has approved a 52episode Hindi serial “Sri Guru Granth Ratnavali”, based on sacred works of the Sikh Gurus, saints, bhakats and Sufis.
This serial, for which shooting, began recently at locations in Bombay and Rajasthan, is one of the 126 Hindi serials approved by computer selection, It will take about one year to complete the project.
The young producer of the unique serial is Harjit Siddhu, a product of the National School of Drama. His earlier telefilm was “Surkhian” newspaper headlines. Basically he is a theater personality. Talking lo newsmen at Chandigarh recently, Siddhu said the script is written by Shanti Dew and the music by Singh Bandus. The cameraman is Tonny Singh with Harjit himself being the director producer.
This serial comes in the line of other successful mega serials like Ramayana, Mahabharata and now Bible Ki Kahaniya.
Harjit belongs 10 a village near Malout in Faridabad district, He said the serial would be shot at all such places which were connected with the Guru Granth Sahib, including shows of gurdwaras in Punjab.
Guru Granth was compiled by Guru Arjan Dev. It represented a composite culture with writers and contributors coming from Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bengal, UP, Sind and Punjab.
