JALANDHAR: Four militant organizations functioning under the ages of Panthic Committee associated with Dr.Sohan Singh and others are likely to reemerge on the political scene in a big way soon. Representatives of the organizations reportedly met somewhere in Doaba area, The participants were Khalistan Commando Force chief Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar, Khalistan Liberation Force Chief Bhai Pritam Singh Sekhon, Tiger Force of Khalistan Chief Bhai Satnam Singh China, Sikh Students Federation chief Bhai Daljit Singh Khalsa and Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind, Balwinder Singh Kalufatta Dhingaand Jamail Singh Chhtrana, The meeting took important decisions but these were not made public. It was stated that the decisions pertained to reorganization plan. Committees were set up to enroll new members of these organizations. The participants reiterated their commitment to the Sikh cause of Khalistan.

Political observers are speculating about the likely course to be adopted by the underground movement, it is felt that the movement in the past few years not only suffered heavy losses at the hands of Indian police but had also lost political focus with far too many issues being brought on the agenda. No tangible results could be achieved. The issues taken up by the various militant groups included such items as social reforms, character of men and women in rural areas, misbehavior by young men with women in public transport buses, appointment of university vice chancellors and registrars, introduction of Punjabi in government departments and purchase of Punjabi typewriters and special grades for Punjabi teachers etc. Most of these issues were prompted by political elements who were giving shelter to militants in rural areas. Some other groups, however, took up wider issues affecting the life of Sikhs on a long term basis such as the opposition to the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal and stoppage of water supply through the Rajasthan canal and the Bhakra Mainline canal, While all other issues became irrelevant and insignificant, the water issue was taken up by the Indian government as the major subject after the militant movement suffered a setback, Most Sikh groups became wiser by experience and hit back against India’s plan to resume construction of the anti-Sikh S.Y.L. canal. Despite denials, the Indian authorities through its puppet regime in Punjab are going ahead with the $.Y.L. project and their officers are searching for office space to locate engineer offices at Mohali and elsewhere. Tis are being done through newspaper advertisements. The work on the canal project was suspended some five years ago when militants had punished certain engineers for joining India’s conspiracy against Sikhs and Punjab.
