CHANDIGARH: Congress (I) M.P.s’ Punjab in a unanimous resolution said demands such as the river water dispute should be referred to the Supreme Court; they said there was no justification for an agitation on the S.Y.L. canal issue. The M.P.s’ also met the union water resources minister V.C.Shukla in Delhi in this connection. The M.P.s did not say, whether work on the canal should be resumed or not but said that the chief minister would never compromise the interests of Punjab. They criticized Jagmeet Singh Brar, a Congress (I) M_P. for joining hands with “militants” on the canal issue.
