SHIMLA (PTI): The Himachal Pradesh governor, Virendera Verma, has resigned.

He announced his resignation at a press conference on Jan 27.

He said he has voluntarily sent his resignation to the president, Shanker Dayal Sharma, and its copy to the prime minister and home minister. Verma said he had requested the president to accept his resignation immediately and relieve him of his responsibilities. He denied that he was asked to resign and asserted that he had resigned of his own will. ‘The governor said he was perturbed over reports regarding change in governors, including that of Himachal Pradesh, adding that be considered it against his honor and self-respect to cling to the post he never aspired for.
