These young Sikhs have been thrown into a New York jail for the last six years, without any proof that they have committed any violent crime. These young Sikhs are innocent. Their only crime is that they have raised their voice for Khalistan, an independent Sikh Nation. These brave men deserve our applause. Although they have been thrown into the jail for the last six years, they are in Charhdi Kala (exalted spirit), a true and natural state of a Sikh.

The police state of India is trying its very best to force the US government and US courts to extradite these Sikhs to India so that they can be killed and then declared “missing in police custody” which is a common practice among the Indian police. It is a fact that the government officials who were responsible for the 1984 genocide of the Sikhs have been “honored” by the Indian government by giving them even higher positions in the Indian administration.

The Sikh genocide of November 1984 in which more than 20,000 Sikhs were murdered, was planned by the ruling party of India. Even though the guilty have been named by several human rights groups, unfortunately not a single person has been brought to justice to this date. What a gross injustice and mockery of the law!

On behalf of the Sikh Nation, the congregation of Sikh Gurdwara  San Jose salutes these young men and prays to the Almighty to give them additional moral strength. The Sikh nation is also very proud of more than 35,000 Sikh men and women who are languishing in the Indian jails.

In the name of democracy, fairness, and justice, we call upon the American politicians and fellow Americans to help us in securing immediate release of these young men. At the same time we appeal to the American public and leaders that these men should not be extradited to India.

Otherwise, either they will be killed in false police encounters or simply killed and declared “missing” by the Indian government as they do with two dozens or so Sikh young men every day.
