SAN FRANCISCO: Immigration Judge Phillip P,Leadbeuer granted asylum to Jaswinder Singh brother of Satwinder Singh Bhola, (an activist and one of the five which forms the presidium of the AISSF).
Jaswinder Singh told the court that he was Punjab police constable from 1981 to 1989. He was assigned to several police station and asked to beat and torture detainees which he refused, He was suspended from the job and during his suspension he was arrested and virtually pawned to produce his brother Satwinder Singh Bhola, His father was jailed and their house ransacked.
Jaswinder Singh showed several scars on his legs and which he received while in police custody. He told the court about the harassment he and his family had been subjected to because they advocated a separate homeland for Sikhs.
The Court appraised the entire testimony, Jaswinder Singh’s affidavit and granted him the asylum. Jaswinder Singh was represented by attorney Mohinder Singh (510 2837382) for whom this case was his 31st victory.
