NEW DELHI(PTI): Ruling party Congress I dissidents on March 19 accused “some smart people in the All India Congress I Committee (AICC)” of preparing a “Nasty” letter denigrating the late former prime minister Rajiy Gandhi and demanded that the culprits should be found out before the March 27 Surajkund meeting.

One of the prominent dissidents K.N.Singh told reporters that the letter must be sent to the party working committee and an enquiry should be held in the affair.

Singh also doubted the veracity of a report that Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao has offered Congress president ship to the widow of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, but said “if the report is true, it is our victory.”

The report in a Delhi newspaper has said that the prime minister in his meeting with Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday had offered to step down from the party president ship if she agreed to accept the post.
