Early detection of the enemy for a Successful strike, still works perfectly in the war against cancer. However, this is the most difficult task. Cancer is not only preventable but also curableif it is detected early.

Cancer is without form, symmetry or balance. In almost any kind of tissue, there may arise a single or small groups of cells that suddenly and unpredictably begin to grow at abnormal rates. Nobody can predict such a development. The only way to detect is a regular medical examination.

A two day “cancer detection and awareness campaign,” organized by leading English daily “the Indian Express” in the capital, received wide afternoon. Hundreds of people attended the camp to get themselves registered for a medical examination.

Despite its alarming growth, there are only 3,000 beds for cancer patients in the country. In northern India, there is no cancer hospital, Mchra said.

According to the ICS, 80 to 85% of the cancer cases are curable if detected early. To a good extent, the disease can be avoided by taking certain precautions.

Smoking, chewing tobacco and Paan Masala are the major causes for cancer in India, Among women early marriage and pregnancy cause the cancer of the cervix.

There are numerous misconcepts about cancer. Many people believe that any person can get cancer however cautious he or she may be and there is no cure for this malady.
