NEW DELHI (PTI): The situation in arson-hit areas of the walled city in the capital here remained peaceful Jan.28, but there was no relaxation in the curfew re imposed after two persons were killed in Wednesday’s violence.

Police said the indefinite curfew reclaimed on Jama Masjid, Hauz Qazi and Chandni Mahal areas and parts of Kamla market and Daryaganj would remain in force before complete normalcy is restored.

Top police officials supervised Security measures in the troubled areas and Delhi police personnel in strength were patrolling the lanes and by lanes of the walled City where seven persons were also injured when a group of young men went on rampage and attacked shops and houses. Police said necessary steps have been taken to prevent any recurrence of violence.

Security arrangements and police patrolling have also been beefed up in Seclampur and Jafar abad areas in northeast Delhi to prevent any untoward incident, ‘These areas witnessed large scale violence after the Ayodhya incident last month.
