I congratulate “World Sikh News” on the eighth anniversary of its existence. Serving the Sikh community for communicating within the community and also to carry the message to the outside world. Its survival through eight rough years despite tremendous odds and financial crisis demonstrates the strong determination of its supporters and their true conviction of its need to exist.

I must say WSN has improved a great deal over the years in terms of fresh news coverage, quality of printing, photographs, spellings and editing. Now it has started (o project an image of a matured, high quality international community newspaper. Thank God there is “World Sikh News” and the community must Support it by all means. On the other hand the newspaper must strive to excel even further to become. Such a valuable source of information that the subscribers will feel, they are really getting their money’s worth and not simply donating in the form of subscription.

Secondly the newspaper has a great responsibility on its hand to rise above groupism and try its best to bring all the Sikh organizations together for a united front against the antiSikh forces. All the groups have an expertise of their own and must be utilized to complement each other. If you were to build your dream house, you need planners, architects, draftsman, landscaper, mason, carpenter, plumber, electrician, decorator etc. all have a job to do, all are equally important and must be kept together. People who criticize others lack a program of their own and live off of criticizing others. Those who have worked to do have no lime to criticize others. Negative criticism, leg pulling or mudslinging are cheap shots and are counterproductive. Different groups are usually satisfied with just some form of recognition of their achievements.

Personally I see a very bright future for’ World Sikh News” and its timely birth. Its columns like “Book Review,” Letters to the Editor,” “World Briefs,” “Sports” and its Punjabi section are great. There should be more columns and articles for children and women to make it more interesting and useful family item in the household.

I wish WSN to live forever. Rajinder Singh Mago
