LUDHIANA (PTI): Simranjit Singh Mann, president Akali Dal (M), along with six others, was arrested by Jagraon police Jan.6 when they were going to village Kaunke in north Indian border State Punjab.
They were (o attend a meeting in connection with the killing of Bhai Gurdev Singh Kaunke, former Akal Takhat Jathedar.
Mann told newsmen at the time of his arrest the police had manhandled him.
According to the police the former Jathedar, who was in police custody, was killed when militants ambushed a police party taking him to another place while the Akalis have alleged that he has been killed by the police.
Chander Shekhar, DIG Ludhiana range said 120 Akali leaders and workers in Ludhiana and Patiala regions have been arrested till Wednesday.
