Baba Wassan Singh, senior member of the Panthic Committee, in a press statement has welcomed the initiative taken by the new govt in solving the Punjab problem, The Panthic Committee, he said, was willing to join in the process of normalization provided these talks were held at an international level. The venue for the talks must be neutral, like Geneva, and the UN and SAARC must be party to these negotiations. He added that the only issue to be discussed was Khalistan talking of anything less was pointless. No one will be permitted to sell the blood of thousands of Sikhs which has already darkened the earth of Punjab.

Baba Wassan Singh said the insistence on UN involvement had become necessary as Delhi had made many agreements with the Sikhs since 1947 but had not honored any of them. The Indian govt cannot be trusted any longer he said.
