Sir,
It was with interest that I read the article concerning Sardar Guru kirpal Singh and his Amrit San char at Richmond Hill Gurdwara. T congratulate Gurukirpal Singh and wish him every success on his Spiritual path, however, I am not quite sure what all the fuss is about,
Gurukirpal Singh is said to be a “native American.” Generally that term is used to describe a person born to the people belonging to the tribes that were here before Columbus. It does not seem that Gurukirpal Singh is of that race. If the article is about the fact that Gurukirpal Singh is a “gora” then why not say so.
In fact there are already many “gore” Sikhs that the World Sikh News chooses to ignore. To suggest that a “gore” taking Amrit is somehow or other someone special because he is American is to ignore the fact that there are already thousands of “native Americans” who have taken the Amnit of Guru Gobind Singh. And what about the tens of thousands of young “native American” (and “native Canadian”) Sikhs who were born of Punjabi extraction. Try asking them what their nationality is.
After 20 years of being a baptized, “American” Sikh I can safely say that Brahminism does not belong with the Hindus.
