DALLAS: The Center for World Thanksgiving celebrated the one ness of all people in expressing gratitude to God and explored the healing and uniting power of ‘Thanksgiving. Religious leaders of all the faiths had traveled from all ‘over the world to participate in this unique event which began on September 7, 1989 with a conference and symposium and ended on October 11, 1989 with the “Banquet of Gratitude”. Dr. Bhai Har bans Lal and Sardar Harbhajan Singh participated on behalf of the Sikh faith. The Declaration of Thanksgiving was patterned on the American Presidential Thanks giving asked great religious minds of this age to speak “Words of Thanksgiving” to the whole human family. The words spoken on this convocation were meant to promote love of God, peace on earth, religious tolerance and preservation of human dignity and human rights, among others, the convocation heard from Sir John Templeton, founder of the Tem pluton Prize for Religion (which was made intentionally larger than the noble prize as religion is the greatest human pursuit). The Sikh Representatives were invited in recognition of faith which represents a strong interfaith spirit.
