ALIGARE: V. P. Singh alleged the Congress party had embarked on a path which would divide the hearts and minds of the people and spell doom for the nation.

The Rajiv Government has brought dishonor and disrepute to the country. The real tragedy is that every commodity has become costly, but human life has become cheap!!!

He said elections would come and go, but the nation’s dignity and honor had to be restored, and this was the cause to which his party was committed

The Janata Dal welcomed the support extended to the party by the Shahi Imam Masjid and said it ‘was confident the Dal will be able to fulfill its commitment to maintain not only secular order but also communal peace and amity as a result of this support extended to it”.

Dal Spokesman Yashwant ‘Sinha said his party was grateful to the Imam as the support had come at a “very crucial stage in our national life and not merely in the context of the elections but the manner in which Mennonites have been treated and exploited by the ruling party and the manner in which the whole secular order has been endangered by the Ruling Party”.

Sinha expressed Surprise over the Congress (I) reaction to the Contents of the cassettes released by the Janata Dal and said he was “amazed that they have the temerity to talk of standards and norms”.

He said the tone of the election campaign was set by the Congress (I) when it started coming out with their “crude advertisements in the newspapers”.

He said the Dal considered the campaign as vulgar and “if they are so shocked at the music contained in the Dal audio cassette, then they have been trying to lampoon the opposition and its leaders. They are the ones who have depicted mother India as a broken doll and not we”.

He charged the Congress of disrupting the election campaign of the Dal and other opposition candidates which he said indicated the sense of panic and desperation among the Congress (I) ranks”.
