Bangor: We call the elections as the seasons of mad dogs. No sane Person can remain safe during this season which has gathered heat with the announcement of the dates for the Parliament and Assembly elections: Nov. 22 & 24. Gala time for racketeers. The high pitch propaganda will make it look as if everybody is happy in India during this season of the mad dogs. As it is, the ruling upper castes do no work. But now up to the elections and then till the Union and State Cabinets are formed and settled down, this upper caste entertainment will go on in full fury at the cost of the SC/ST/BCs and Muslims/Christians/Sikhs, We vote and they rule. And this is called “parliamentary democracy”. Over 85% of the country’s population who are real producers of wealth have no say in this type of “democracy”. The upper castes will make a Dalit fight Dalit, a BC fight BC and a Muslim fight a Muslim. When brothers fight brothers, they will sit at a distance and enjoy the fun. Scores of “political parties” are formed to divide brothers from brothers. But rulers, who also control our brains through the media, are not divided. To us it may appear that they are also in different parties and publicly fighting. But this “fighting” is only in the press. In the night, they dine together and sleep together. There is no ideological difference between one party leader or the other. Every party is one in supporting the Shankaracharyas and their “holy” scriptures that propagate the philosophy of exploitation called dharma. They all have one single value system that stands for the denial of our human rights.

They can manipulate our minds through the media. Every election has given new muscles to rulers. The Nov. 1989 elections will not be an exception. So we are not at all excited about it. Since every election has added to our misery, this can’t be an exception. In its mad race towards fascism or Nazism, the rulers want to grab as much as they can in as short a time as possible. Because, the existing “parliamentary democracy” is only helpful to the upper castes. Only “proportional representation “with” separate electorate” can assure our human rights. But this needs constitutional amendment but we have no strength in Parliament to force this amendment though we constitute 85% of the population, We are made beggars and beggars can never be choosers. So in the coming elections what best we can do is to take advantage of the crisis and contradictions in the ruling class by forming a Third Front, Such a Front can fight the Congress led “socialist Brahmins” and the V.P. Singhled, “arced Brahmins”. Such a Third Front 1s taking shape under Kanshi Ram and we want all other parties of SC/ST/BCs and Muslims/Christians/Sikhs to joint this front. There is no need to mention individual names of these parties. If the SC/ST/BCs and minority “leaders” imprisoned in the different “national” parties resign and join this Front before the elections that will be wonderful. But we have our own doubt about these “pet dogs” deserting their master. The emergence of this Third Front is a welcome development. Already it has given jitters to the rulers. The Front should play one section of the rulers against the other, fish in the troubled waters of the rulers and make best of the bargain in this season of the mad dogs (courtesy Dalit Voice).
