NEW DELHI: The five party National Front and the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) played the Congress (I) manifesto, saying it had ignored vital issues like price rise and such had nothing new to offer Spokesman for the Front, and Opposition combine of Janata Dal, Telugu Desam, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Assom Gana Pari shad and Congress, Dinesh Goswami told newsmen that the ruling party’s manifesto had the oft repeated statements on communal ism but was silent on the recentness in the country.
Goswami also accused the Congress (I) of ignoring the Punjab problem and economic issues such as external debt.
Holding that the manifesto contained nothing that was not in the one in 1984. The BJP said the Congress (I) manifesto contained only bogus promises. JBP Vice President S. S. Bhan dari also criticized the Congress (I) media campaign and said it was based on the belief that a lie, if repeated long enough, would stick.
Terming the manifesto as an “insult to the housewives” Goswami said since the ruling party ignored inflationary trends if meant it could not offer any solution.
