He was born on 1469 at Talwandi which was later on named Nankana Sahib. It is now in Pakistan.
Guru Nanak was sent to school at the age of five but his teacher couldn’t satisfy his inquiring mind. Nanak sought to know the path of truth, He always liked to be alone with nature or in the company of holy men.
In his zeal to serve mankind he traveled to distant lands accompanied by a Muslim rabab player, Mardana. He sang to the people the divine message of universal love and brotherhood. He was a great musician and he set all his hymns to Indian classical “ragas’,
After many years of wondering he returned home laden with glory. He died at Kartarpur on Ravi on September 22, 1539 he was at the age of 70.
